Neil Young veröffentlicht Protest-Song "Who’s Gonna Stand Up?" und kündigt neues Album an

Neil Young erhebt die Stimme: Der Kanadier hat den Song "Who’s Gonna Stand Up?" veröffentlicht, in dem er zur Rettung unseres Planeten aufruft, bevor es zu spät ist. Öl-Pipelines, Fracking, Fluss-Verschmutzungen, Pflanzensterben – Young nimmt die großen Themen ins Visier und mahnt eindringlich: Es liegt an uns Menschen, uns selbst zu retten. "Who’s gonna stand up and save the earth / Who’s gonna say that she’s had enough?", heißt es in dem Song, und weiter: "This all starts with you and me … We’re the people known as earth". 

Neil Young nahm den Track gleich in drei unterschiedlichen Versionen auf: Mit einem Orchester, akustisch und mit seiner Band Crazy Horse, mit denen er "Who’s Gonna Stand Up?" auch bereits während der UK-Tour im Sommer live im Programm hatte. Der Song ist außerdem als Beitrag zum Weltklima-Gipfel gedacht, der diese Woche im Hauptsitz der UN in New York stattfand. 

Neil Young fordert ausdrücklich zum Teilen des Songs und dem Support des Themas auf:

"Who’s Gonna Stand Up?" ist zugleich die erste Veröffentlichung vom neuen Studioalbum Neil Youngs, das den Titel "Storytone" trägt und für Anfang November angekündigt ist. Erst im Mai hatte Young das von Jack White produzierte Album "Letter Home" veröffentlicht.
