Faouzia hat nicht nur eine beeindruckende Stimme, sondern sie hat auch etwas zu sagen – im Fall ihrer neuen Single "Puppet" an alle Mädchen und jungen Frauen da draußen: Ihr seid perfekt so, wie ihr seid und müsst euch für niemanden verändern oder verbiegen. Auch und gerade nicht in der Liebe. Seid niemals eine Puppe an Fäden, sondern tanzt frei: "I was born to dance, dance / Could never tie strings to my hands, hands / You could only love a pu-pu-puppet", singt sie in ihrer neuen Empowerment-Hymne, die auf ihre letzte Single "“Hero” folgt.
“‘Puppet’ is a song about challenging relationship dynamics as a woman, taking charge, and shamelessly being yourself”, kommentiert Faouzia. “I want young girls around the world to know that they don’t need to change who they are for anyone, and that someone that loves you shouldn’t ask you to be someone you’re not. If anyone tries to knock you down, or force you to conform, use that as motivation to stand up taller and only surround yourself with those that want to prop you up and support you. Throughout the song, the word “ حرية” is chanted, Arabic for “freedom.” As the world continues down a difficult path daily, this message is more necessary than ever.”
Puppet" wurde von Faouzia geschrieben und von The Monarch (Saweetie, Noa Kirel) und Johnny Goldstein (Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix, Black Eyed Peas) produziert.
