Auch Travis Scott ist Fan von Erica Banks – und macht in der neuen Version von "Buss It" mit

Mit ihrem Track "Buss It" liefert Erica Banks den Soundtrack zum aktuellen #BussItChallenge bei TikTok. Und nun ist der gewaltige Song noch mächtiger geworden, denn Rap-Titan Travis Scott ist in einer neuen Version mit dabei und liefert eigene Strophen ab. "Buss it! Pop it! Lock it! Drop it! We goin’ up like a stockit / Outside and inside the Lambo is chocolate”, rappt Scott, der in seinen Zeilen auch einen Shoutout an den Kollegen Roddy Ricch unterbringt: "She say she gon’ give me the box and the posse / Fu**ed around, introduce her to Roddy." Es folgt Erica Banks, die über das Sample von Nellys "Hot in Here" ihre unzweideutige Selbstbeurteilung abgibt: "Real slim waist with a body on me / Goddamn, I'm poppin', I'm hot / Real thick bands in a motherfucker pants / He was staring from a stance, so I took him to the spot / I don't wanna talk, I wanna be in your mouth".

Wie Erica Banks gegenüber Complex berichtet, erfuhr sie durch den Telefonanruf eines Teammitglieds von ihrem Superstar-Kollaborationspartner: "It’s so crazy", berichtet sie, "I got a phone call, and it was like, 'Yo, I’m about to send you this song. I’m about to play this song for you. Tell me what you think.’ I’m not knowing what I’m about to listen to. Then I hear ‘Buss It,’ but I hear [Travis Scott] on it." Verständlicherweise war sie ziemlich aus dem Häuschen: "What the hell is going on? How did he even get this song?" Erst später fand sie heraus, dass Travis Scott ihre Entwicklung bereits seit einer Weile verfolgt: "He loves my work ethic, so he just wanted to come in and bless me with that. I’m so grateful. He didn’t have to do that."

Es ist noch nicht einmal zwei Jahre her, seit Erica Banks im Sommer 2019 erstmals ein Aufnahmestudio betrat. Von da an gab es jedoch kein Halten mehr für die heute 22-Jährige aus der Nähe von Dallas. Noch im selben Jahr veröffentlichte Banks, die seit ihrer Jugend Gedichte schreibt, drei bestechend gute Mixtapes – und ist nun bei Warner Music unter Vertrag. "I met the Warner team, and everybody seemed family oriented. I’m really big on family, so I felt like that was the right choice for me", so Banks gegenüber Complex. Willkommen in der Familie, Erica!
