Was Ampeln mit Liebe zu tun haben? Eine ganze Menge, wie wir in "Traffic Lights" lernen

Humor ist, wenn man trotzdem lacht – oder schlicht: Galgenhumor. So in etwa könnte man Sara Kays’ Worte im Post unten nennen, mit denen sie die Intention hinter ihrem neuen Song "Traffic Lights" beschreibt: "i wrote this song about watching someone fall out of love with u which is always fun". 

Im Song wählt die Singer-Songwriterin die schöne Metapher einer Autofahrt mit ihrem Partner, auf der die Farben der Ampel etwas über den Zustand der Liebe aussagt: "i used to hope / all the lights would be red or yellow / now i hope for green / so i can pretend that’s why you ignore me", heißt es im Refrain des Songs, in dem Sara Kays’ sehnsuchtsvoller Gesang von einer sanften Melodie umspielt wird. “I wrote this song about noticing when someone is gradually falling out of love with you”, sagt die in Nashville lebende Musikerin über ihren Song. “At first you notice a small thing that might shift from how things have always been – in this song that’s when you’re driving around with them, and they don’t look at you or joke around with you like they used to. I hone in on that moment in these lyrics, but really it represents a lot of bigger things happening and a bigger loss.”

“Traffic Lights” folgt auf die jüngsten Singles “Backseat Rider,” “Future Kids” und “Picture of You” der Musikerin, die im vergangenen Jahr mit dem viralen Erfolg “Remember That Night?” ihren Durchbruch feierte.
